We all remember that moment when it clicked. Things fell into place. The feeling was overwhelming, and at the same time so empowering. Time was moving slower. It’s as if the world had shrunk and you were in complete control.
That’s you – as a kid.
Maybe you were riding a bike. Or drawing your new favorite cartoon character. Exploring a nearby forest. Building the most whimsical blanket fort. Or even blasting off into space in that brand new, not-so-shiny cardboard box that the new fridge was delivered in.
That magical feeling is called a flow state. It stems from our imagination. Both kids and adults can experience this feeling. And we can feed it.
One way to get there is to follow those childlike instincts from time to time. What better way than to do what the kids are doing?
A few activities that grown folks can do to channel their inner-kid include:
- Creating art everywhere
- Mow a maze in yard (image)
- Fairy villages
- Story time in the trees (look straight up at the underside of the trees and tell stories)
- Chalk art
These activities aren’t just for fun. They are also healthy – for kids and adults alike. The stress of adults can also impact kids, too. So the next time the week is starting to feel heavy, know that the kids could use an injection of fun as well. Let go and immerse into a different world for a bit, a child’s world.
The MAHZY Project is all about helping people see the world as kids do. Follow us to experience fun, learning, and awe of the world through a child’s eyes again!
